Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

8 oz mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

4 oz Swiss cheese, shredded

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon dried thyme or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 package (12 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C), ensuring that it’s ready for baking.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the finely chopped onion. Sauté for approximately 3-4 minutes until the onions become translucent. Next, add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms to the skillet, continuing to cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the mushrooms are nicely tender and browned.

Cook the Beef: Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the skillet. Introduce the ground beef to the empty side, seasoning it generously with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Cook the beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it is thoroughly browned and cooked through.

Combine Ingredients: Once the beef is fully cooked, stir it together with the sautéed vegetables until well-combined. Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the shredded Swiss cheese, allowing it to melt slightly into the warm mixture.

Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, beef broth, and dried thyme (or fresh thyme leaves). This creamy mixture will add richness to the bake.

Assemble the Bake: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking. Unroll the crescent roll dough and gently press it into the bottom of the baking dish, ensuring to seal any seams. Evenly distribute the beef and mushroom mixture over the dough layer. Then, pour the cream mixture over the entire filling, making sure it covers all portions evenly.

Bake: Place the baking dish into your preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the filling is bubbling attractively.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, carefully remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Before serving, garnish generously with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness. Serve hot, and enjoy the savory layers of flavor!
