Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets, washed and trimmed

1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

3 cloves garlic, minced finely

1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and grated

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Optional garnishes: sesame seeds and sliced green onions

Instructions

Prepare the Beef: Start by thinly slicing the flank steak against the grain, which helps to keep the meat tender. Season the slices lightly with salt and pepper for added flavor.

Make the Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and the cornstarch-water mixture. Whisk well until fully blended and smooth, then set the sauce aside.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned, flipping halfway through for even cooking. Remove the beef from the pan and place it on a plate, setting it aside for now.

Stir-Fry Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, frying for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, toss in the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and is slightly tender but still crisp.

Combine: Return the cooked beef to the vegetable mixture in the pan. Pour the prepared sauce over everything, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef and vegetables evenly.

Finish: Drizzle the sesame oil over the stir-fry for an extra layer of flavor. Stir everything together once more before serving hot over your choice of cooked rice or noodles. Optionally, sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions to add a fresh touch.
