Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets, rinsed and trimmed

1 cup cooked white rice (or quinoa)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Sauté the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil until shimmering. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until they soften and become fragrant. Next, incorporate the ground beef, using a spatula to break it apart. Cook until browned and fully cooked, approximately 6-8 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Italian seasoning for depth of flavor.

Add Broccoli: Introduce the broccoli florets to the beef mixture. Pour in the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to ensure everything is well coated. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow it to steam for 4-5 minutes, or until the broccoli reaches a bright green color and is tender yet retains a slight crispness.

Combine with Rice: Once the broccoli is ready, remove the lid and lower the heat to low. Gently fold in the cooked rice (or quinoa), stirring well to combine all the ingredients evenly until warmed throughout.

Melt the Cheese: Evenly spread the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the beef and broccoli mixture. Cover the skillet once more and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese has melted into a creamy layer atop the dish.

Garnish and Serve: After the cheese has melted beautifully, take the skillet off the heat. Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top for a burst of color and flavor. Serve warm, and enjoy your delicious one-pan meal!
