2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are excellent choices)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

½ tsp salt

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 egg

½ cup milk

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko will add extra crunch)

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Optional: powdered sugar for sprinkling

Begin by slicing the apples into uniform rings, approximately ½ inch thick. Be sure to remove the seeds and core for a safe and delectable bite!

    In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and granulated sugar thoroughly.

      In another bowl, whisk the egg and milk together until well blended.

        Slowly incorporate the egg mixture into the flour mixture, stirring until just integrated. The batter should be thick yet smooth.

          Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for around 5 minutes.

            Dip each apple ring into the batter, making sure it's fully covered, then roll it gently in the breadcrumbs to achieve a delightful crunch.

              Place the coated apple rings in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding; you may have to cook them in multiple batches.

                Lightly spritz the tops of the apple rings with cooking spray to encourage crispiness.

                  Air fry the apple rings for approximately 10-12 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking process until they are a beautiful golden brown and crispy.

                    Once finished, take them out of the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar for an added touch of sweetness.
