Ingredients

For the Baked BBQ Chicken:

4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

1 cup BBQ sauce (choose your favorite store-bought or homemade version)

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)

For the Sweet Potato Fries:

2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fry-shaped pieces

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon paprika (regular or smoked, based on preference)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon sea salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C). For easier cleanup, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Chicken: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken thighs, ensuring they are coated evenly, then sprinkle the spice mixture liberally over each piece, rubbing it in for full flavor. Arrange the flavored chicken thighs on one half of your prepared baking sheet.

Coat the Chicken with BBQ Sauce: Use a brush to generously apply the BBQ sauce over the chicken thighs, ensuring every surface is coated well. Set aside any remaining sauce for serving later.

Prepare the Sweet Potato Fries: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweet potato fry pieces with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Toss them together until the fries are evenly coated in the oil and seasonings. Spread the seasoned sweet potato fries out in a single layer on the other half of the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in the Oven: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Be sure to flip both the chicken and the sweet potato fries halfway through cooking for even crispness. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), while the fries should be golden and crispy.

Final Touch: Once cooked, remove the baking sheet from the oven. If you desire extra flavor, brush additional BBQ sauce over the chicken thighs. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Serve: Arrange the baked BBQ chicken on plates alongside a generous portion of sweet potato fries. For a colorful touch, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley.

Enjoy: Serve immediately while hot and indulge in this delightful blend of smoky and sweet flavors that will surely excite your taste buds!
